CHCANYS Health Information Technology (HIT) Program
Welcome to the Community Health Care Association of New York State Health Information Technology Program (HIT). The CHCANYS HIT Program has been launched to ensure that all New York State health centers have the ability to effectively leverage HIT adoption to fulfill their mission of providing high quality cost-effective primary health care to underserved populations.
The HIT Program includes the following initiatives:
- A state-wide effort to develop improved HIT capacity at Community Health Centers.
- Advocacy for HIT funding (public and private) to ensure financial sustainability at Community Health Centers.
- A strong communications interface with all local, state, federal, public and private agencies to ensure Community Health Care inclusion in the larger health care HIT environment.
- Evaluation and development of best practice models for effective HIT implementation to serve our patient population and enhance patient centered care.
- Leadership and expert advice on HIT training, education and technical issues regarding privacy, security and standards for Health Information Exchange.
- Liaison and develop relationships with appropriate vendors and organizations that further the implementation of HIT at Community Health Centers.
- Development of HIT communication forums for peer-to-peer information sharing (link).
- Leadership and direction of New York Health Choice Network (NY HCN), a health center controlled network of 6 upstate Health Centers.
- Executive Leadership in Primary Care Health Information Consortium (PCHIC).
NYeC Regional Extension Center Names CHCANYS as an Extension Agent to Upstate New York CHCs
Through
the NYeC Regional Extension Center, CHCANYS has been named as an
extension agent to provide services to community health centers in
upstate New York in their efforts to achieve certification as
meaningful users of Health IT, thereby becoming eligible for federal
