CHCANYS Advocacy Coordinator Subcommittee

The CHCANYS Advocacy Coordinator Subcommittee, a subcommittee of the Public Policy Committee, will be launching a new calendar invite series running from May – October 2025. This subcommittee is dedicated to fostering cohesive collaboration and deeper engagement on policy issues that impact community health centers and the patients they serve across New York State.

Participation in the subcommittee is open to staff and board members from all CHCANYS member community health centers throughout the state.

To support and strengthen advocacy efforts, CHCANYS encourages each health center’s leadership to designate an advocacy coordinator to serve as the primary point of contact. This individual will lead advocacy activities on behalf of their health center and work closely with CHCANYS on a variety of initiatives. While a health center may appoint multiple advocacy coordinators to participate in the subcommittee, only one should be identified as the main liaison.

The advocacy coordinators on the subcommittee have been actively honing their public narrative skills and continue to refine this important skill. Building on that foundation, the next goal is for each advocacy coordinator to create an internal advocacy strategy plan. By having an advocacy plan, advocacy coordinators will have a clear and strategic framework to guide and amplify their health center’s advocacy work moving forward.
