Purpose: Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer and the oversight of the Medical Director of The Center for Gynecological Care and Wellness, the Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive care to Trillium Health patients. The scope of practice includes gynecologic and/or specialty care delivery (HIV/HepC, PEP/PrEP, Transgender/LGBT Health), education, health promotion, and collaboration with patients, families, and all Trillium Health’s staff. The ability to work as a member of a team is critical.

1. Clinical Requirements
- Develop an acceptable practice agreement with a collaborating physician.
- If Nurse Practitioner has more than 3600 hours of qualifying NP experience they can opt to the following:
- Practice in accordance with a written practice agreement with a collaborating physician or practice and have collaborative relationships with a qualified physician or a New York State Health Department licensed healthcare facility
- If Nurse Practitioner has more than 3600 hours of qualifying NP experience they can opt to the following:
- Submit proof of the practice agreement with an appropriate physician, licensed to practice in New York State, to the State Education Department within 90 days of employment.
- Utilize the ANA Scope of Practice for The Primary Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant.
- Maintain appropriate credentials to practice at Trillium Health
2. Patients
- Gynecologic care (if applicable) - perform histories and physicals, routine and urgent office visits, review laboratory and test results, perform office procedures as experience and credentialing allow.
- Education - provide health teaching to patients and families, participate in development and delivery of educational programs for area health care providers.
- Health Promotion - provide information on nutrition and eating concerns, stress management, sexuality concerns, contraception, smoking cessation, chemical dependency and substance abuse.
- Case Management - Participate actively as a member of the health care team and in weekly case management meetings.
- Along with M.D./D.O providers, supervise clinical interventions provided by registered nurse staff
- Continuing education activities include Gynecologic care and HIV/AIDS care, as well as related clinical care subjects (e.g. nutritional management, pain control, terminal care).
- Perform regular peer reviews and focused chart reviews as indicated based on Agency policies

Qualifications
Minimum 1 year or greater of OB/GYN experience as a board certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. M.S. degree as a nurse practitioner in a National League for Nursing (NLN) accredited school of nursing. Current licensure in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse and current certification in New York State as a nurse practitioner. National certification by the American Nurses' Association (ANA) (or other certifying body) as a nurse practitioner (adult or family, preferred). Or, M.S. degree in Physician Assistant studies and current certification in New York State as a Physician Assistant. Or, bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience.
Experience working in community-based health care settings is also preferred. An understanding of EMRs is helpful. The ability to demonstrate teamwork and effective interpersonal relations skills is imperative. Excellent written/oral communication and computer skills are required.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
