CHCANYS’ Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Pipeline (MAAP) Program is seeking a highly qualified Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Virtual Preceptor to support our inaugural cohort of apprentices in the didactic learning process. Over the course of a year, the MAAP program will combine on-the-job training with online coursework to afford individuals with no formal experience in medical assisting the skills, experiences, and education required to work independently following the conclusion of the program.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the training, on-boarding, and on-the-job training of primary care-based medical assistants. Strong interpersonal, communication, and people skills are essential to this role.
Objectives of this role:

- Provide learned-centered support to an inaugural cohort of up to 12 Medical Assistant Apprentices, as needed.
- Support CHCANYS staff and on-site journey workers (experienced medical assistants who will teach on-the-job) with execution of pre-developed online learning modules and in-person lesson plans.
- Adhere to program compliance requirements, and ensure that all activities, services, and programs are in compliance.
- Create a learning environment that is positive, organized, and encouraging, as well as sensitive to and respectful of cultural/ethnic diversity, learning abilities, and any relevant reasonable accommodations.
Responsibilities:

- Assist CHCANYS staff with grading written assignments, aggregating multiple choice test results, and providing regular updates regarding progress of cohort.
- Identify apprentices requiring additional support, as needed.
- Provide ad-hoc support to apprentices via e-mail.
- Host virtual small-group instruction, discussion groups, and office hours.
- Participate in CHCANYS team meetings and events.
- Utilize CHCANYS communication channels to effectively support the administrative team.
- Contribute to verification and tracking of student attendance, observe student performance, contribute to progress reports, and maintain records, as required.
Required skills and qualifications:

- At least 5 years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in a primary care and/or community health center setting. A bonus if you have followed a career trajectory from Medical Assisting to Nursing;
- Experience working in Community Health Centers (CHCs);
- Proven success in working with Medical Assistants in a training/on-boarding capacity;
- Highly effective verbal, written, and visual communication skills;
- Understanding of basic principles of medical assisting;
- Ability to interact comfortably with new professionals;
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to changes in a dynamic environment; and
- Proficiency with technology platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Office, and Learning Management Systems. Willingness to learn other platforms, as needed.
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience in teaching adults and familiarity with adult learning styles.
Compensation & Hours:
- $50 per hour for up to 20 hours per month.
