CHCANYS Federal Hill Day, to be held on February 6, is approaching fast and we hope you join us in-person in Washington, DC to speak with NY congressional electeds to advocate for CHC funding! We need your advocacy more than ever to call on Congress to pass long term, enhanced health center funding.

CHCANYS 2025 Advocacy Day – March 3 @ Albany, NY
Invite colleagues, patients, friends, and family to CHCANYS 2025 Advocacy Day to advocate for community health center and patient priorities in the 2025 New York State budget! Your presence is more vital than ever given the financial pressures and challenges that health centers across the state are experiencing. Join us in making a difference for CHCs and patients across New York!
CHCANYS 2025 Advocacy Day will be an exciting IN-PERSON event in Albany, NY. Kicking off this fantastic day is an inspiring morning program featuring welcome remarks, insights from esteemed invited speakers, and the presentation of the Dr. Jack Geiger, Catherine Abate, and Dorothy Kartashevitch Awards!
The event will take place on March 3, 2025, at 10:00AM-12:15PM in New York State’s Capitol – Albany, NY at the Empire State Plaza Meeting Rooms 1-5. There will be a light breakfast available at 9:00AM and lunch will be available at 11:45AM.
***Health centers should schedule their own meetings with elected officials in the afternoon.***

The Dr. Jack Geiger Award
CRITERIA: This award was established to recognize a licensed provider in honor of Dr. Jack Geiger, who devoted his life's work to the problems of health, poverty, and human rights.
All providers - medical doctors, dentists, nurse practitioners, doctors of osteopathy and nurse practitioners, registered nurses, behavioral health providers – are eligible. Click here to learn about Dr. Geiger.

The Catherine Abate Memorial Award
CRITERIA: This award honors a visionary leader who has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of the under-served, including women’s health. This award is open to any leader in public service, philanthropy, advocacy, or an exemplary FQHC staff person who embodies these ideals.

The Dorothy Kartashevich Award
CRITERIA: This award is given to a consumer board member who, for at least three years, has worked tirelessly on their center's behalf. This award recognizes that the backbone of the community health movement are the consumer-run boards that guide individual FQHCs.
