Part 2: In-House Dental Assistant Training Programs and Career Pathways in Health Centers
Dental assistants (DA) play a critical role in the health center dental practice. DAs build relationships with patients, ensure proper infection prevention and control protocols, and increase efficiency and capacity of the dental program. With recruitment and retention challenges, health centers must be innovative in ensuring an effective DA workforce. In-house DA training programs have emerged as a strategy to hire DAs from the community.
