CHCANYS is pleased to present a two-part webinar series designed to strengthen the capacity of community health centers to identify and respond to Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). This initiative will provide participants with a framework for building sustainable internal protocols, collaborating with community-based organizations, and incorporating practical, evidence-based approaches into day-to-day integrated care delivery.
Webinar Series Overview
Participants will gain the knowledge and tools needed to improve identification of IPV, engage in meaningful community partnerships, and develop workflows that support patients who have experienced or are at risk of IPV. Each session will provide clear, actionable strategies to support health center teams in building a coordinated response.
Part 1 – IPV Basics
Date: May 9, 2025 | Time: 12:00 PM EST
Erica Monasterio, subject matter expert, in partnership with the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NYSCADV), will introduce the core concepts of IPV and its impact on patient health and access to care. Participants will explore how to build strong, formalized partnerships with domestic violence advocacy organizations, enhance referral networks, and establish collaborative approaches that address patient needs. The session will also highlight practical steps for developing internal protocols and external agreements to support consistent patient follow-up and coordination with partners.
Part 2 – Evidence-Based Practices for Prevention and Disclosure

Futures Without Violence will build upon the foundational knowledge from Part 1 by focusing on the implementation of practical, evidence-based strategies to support patient education and early identification. Participants will be introduced to communication tools and approaches that promote safe and supportive conversations around IPV. The session will offer guidance on how to integrate screening and IPV-related education into clinical workflows, with a focus on consistency, patient engagement, and resource linkage.
