The State Plan Amendment (SPA) has been approved, and eMedNY has issued updated guidance on Community Health Worker (CHW) services, effective April 1, 2024. Health centers are now eligible for Medicaid reimbursement at a rate of $35 per 30-minute session, with coverage for up to 12 sessions per year. CHW services must be billed separately from threshold visits to qualify for reimbursement, and all services must be provided in person, as telehealth is not covered for health centers.
