An Advocacy Coordinator is the health center designated point person leading advocacy efforts on behalf of the health center and collaborates with CHCANYS to amplify assorted advocacy efforts. Advocacy Coordinators raise awareness on health center priorities and issues, increase advocacy engagement in their health center and community, and share back details of meetings with elected officials or CBOs. Advocacy coordinators participate in budget and legislative advocacy updates, upcoming advocacy efforts and activities, and time sensitive calls to action. CHCANYS has introduced public narrative during Advocacy Coordinator Subcommittee as an advocacy tool for membership to build power and advocacy capacity. CHCANYS is excited to continue to provide these tools to our Advocacy Coordinators to continue to build capacity as we approach the legislative and budget sessions in NYS to strengthen our CHC movement.
CHCs must designate a Lead Advocacy Coordinator and meetings occur monthly. CHC staff and board members from member NYS CHCs are welcome to join!
