Bronx Community Health Network (BCHN) was founded in 1996 to ensure that the socio-economically depressed and medically underserved residents of the Bronx have access to high-quality and comprehensive healthcare services, Bronx Community Health Network (BCHN) is a not-for-profit, community-based organization and Federally Qualified Health Center. The organization provides a wide range of comprehensive, coordinated primary medical, oral, and mental health care and related diagnostic, pharmacy, social support, and enabling services for medically underserved/uninsured residents. 

BCHN’s mission is to improve the health of people and families in the Bronx; provide access to affordable, quality health care, especially for uninsured persons; promote disease prevention, early treatment and healthful lifestyles; and obtain financial and other resources for programs and services. BCHN’s service area includes the entire borough of the Bronx, including all 25 zip codes. Within this area, Health Center sites focus on the low-income and underserved populations.

BCHN is seeking to hire a Nurse Manager for the day-to-day coordination and oversight of all aspects of the Nursing Department. 

About the Role: The Nurse manager is the first-line supervisory authority, with responsibility, and accountability for the 24/7 operations of the health center, ensuring that nursing personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice.

  • Time scheduling of the health center, planning work to be accomplished, setting priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work. Assigning work based on priorities, and the capabilities of nursing personnel.
  • Evaluating the performance of nursing personnel.
  • Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of nursing care for all types of care as mandated by Federal, State, and local regulations. 
  • Provides information to clients and health care team by answering questions and requests. 
  • Giving advice, counsel, or instruction to nursing personnel on work and administrative matters.
  • Identifying developmental and training needs of nursing personnel and providing or encouraging development and training.
  • Responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, employee safety, and accreditation. 
  • Interview applicants, assist with employee relations matters, standards of care, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • Nurse management: 2 years (Required)
  • Nursing: 4 years (Required)

Special Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation and records in an organized manner. Work as a team member and independently.
  • Extensive clinical skills for specific unit
  • Ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent active listening skills and strong service orientation.
