JOB TITLE: Site Supervisor -Qualified Nutritionist
REPORTS TO: WIC Director
The following statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of this position.
JOB SUMMARY: The overall goal is to provide customer-friendly, professional, participant-centered quality care that will enhance the lives of those served by the LIFQHC WIC program. Additionally, assesses and provide participant-centered nutrition education (individual or family sessions and facilitated group discussions) for all participants. Ensure all staff work together to support each other through the NYS enrollment process, nutrition assessment and education procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates as a member of the LIFQHC WIC management team with duties including but not limited to coordinating all aspects of the WIC program operation, establishing a communication system to keep staff informed, maintaining a thorough knowledge of LIFQHC WIC policies and procedures, and conducting and documenting staff meetings. - Performs personnel management duties at the LIFQHC WIC site according to New York State Policies and Procedures,
- Interview prospective employees, providing orientation and training, monitoring staff and providing supervision.
- Administers appraisals, resolves performance issues, and handles disciplinary actions.
- Manages WIC facility and site operation to include: assuring the facility requirements, establishing work schedules and tasks, monitoring patient flow, etc.
- Promotes positive client service attitudes and resolves concerns in a timely manner.
- Enters and monitors data for benefit issuance in the WIC database and issues WIC benefits through the computer to program participants according to NYS/program policies.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the LIFQHC (assigned) site, establishes mechanisms designed to ensure program integrity and maintain, exceed assignments.
- Provide leadership in developing, training staff conducting and evaluating information provided to all staff (including current nutrition education topics).
- Makes referrals for clients needing services not provided by WIC according to local and state.
- Make appropriate referrals to health and social services with routine follow up documented; acts on referrals received from other programs and have a good knowledge of application procedures for specific services available in the community.

- Promotes breastfeeding as the optimal method of infant feeding according to the Breastfeeding Promotion Plan policies.
- Keeps current with up-to-date breastfeeding information and disseminate it to staff.
- Provide oversight to Qualified Nutritionist and Clerical staff who providing information to parents /participants.
- Provide oversight to Qualified Nutritionist providing care to High Risk participants
- Implement, update participant’s High Risk care plans as per current NYS regulations, policies and procedures.
- Ensure the efficient flow of the assessment and education processes.
- Provide leadership in planning, conducting, and evaluating participant-centered nutrition education (individual/family sessions and/or facilitated group discussions).
- Prescribe, tailor, authorize, issue and reissue food package benefits.
- Review and approve formula requests requiring medical documentation in consultation with participant/parent and/or Health Care Provider (HCP).
- Provide and document and assist staff in providing participant-centered nutrition education (individual/family sessions or facilitated group discussions) for all participants.
- Act as the resource person for information on nutrition issues/topics for all staff.
- Provide guidance in nutrition assessment and counseling to QNs as needed.
- Provide leadership/direction in nutrition assessment and counseling to staff as needed.
- Provide leadership and assist in orienting, training and mentoring new staff.
- Provide leadership and assist to ensure staff is kept updated on NYS policies/procedures as changes occur.
- Annually implement the Farmer's Market Program and ensures staff is trained in policies and procedures of the program.
- Ensures the LIFQHC WIC Program adheres to all NYS and/or agency mandates and regulations
- Immediately report any problems or unusual occurrences at site to Program Director and/or designee.
- Assists the WIC Director in developing some of nutrition section of the Nutrition Services Plan/LACASA. Implements procedures, monitors and evaluates results.
- Maintains adequate program, employee and client records.
- Maintains statistical information for evaluation and planning of nutritional services.
- Develop understanding of a remote system work flow, incorporating NYS/ program/sponsoring agency’s regulations, policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership and assist staff to function within a remote system.
- Provide leadership to ensure the remote work flow/system provided to participants is efficient with limited errors.

Quality Improvement Complete annual Nutrition Education Plan. Complete annual Civil Rights training and other required WIC training Participate in completing and evaluating departmental policies and procedures. Participate in periodic review of records to evaluate compliance and standard of care. Promote and support Breastfeeding Complete quarterly time studies as required by WIC

- Supervises staff in conjunction with the organization’s managerial/leadership practices Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health or related area (designated by NYS) with WIC experience
- Experience with culturally diverse population
- Strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
- Computer experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred:
- Master Health Administration, Registered Dietitian Bachelor and/or Master degree from accredit four year college/university with educational concentration as detailed in NYSDOH WPM- Section 1460 Date: 06/2021
