About the Role:
Callen-Lorde is seeking an experienced, dedicated, full-time Psychiatry Provider (PSYCH NP/MD/DO) to serve in our integrated mental health and medical clinic. This position requires demonstrated competence in meeting the behavioral health needs for the LGBT community and persons living with HIV and compliance with NYS OMH/DOH regulations. This position will provide psychiatric assessment and psychopharmacological treatment of patients with acute and chronic psychiatric illnesses. You will become part of an integrated team providing behavioral health and medical services to a diverse group of patients. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in psychiatric care, particularly for LGBTQ+ patients and individuals living with HIV.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Psychiatry Provider, your responsibilities will include:
- Patient Care: Delivering comprehensive psychiatric services to patients in a NYS Article 28 and/or 31 clinic. Conducting psychiatric assessments and providing psychopharmacological treatments for patients with diverse mental health needs.
- Quality Standards and Improvement: Planning, initiating, and maintaining quality care standards for psychiatric outpatient services. Collaborating with the Director of Psychiatry to identify and implement strategies to enhance services.
- Strength-Based Approaches: Utilizing strength-based methodologies to address acute and chronic mental health issues. Implementing strategies aimed at reducing inpatient hospitalizations.
- Access to Care: Working closely with the Director of Psychiatry to ensure timely and appropriate access to mental health services.
- Clinical Guidelines: Staying informed about Callen-Lorde’s Clinical Guidelines and current treatment protocols across areas such as general medical care, adolescent health, transgender health, lesbian health, STD, and HIV care.
- Collaboration: Partnering with colleagues across disciplines to deliver integrated care and address patient needs comprehensively.
- Continuous Quality Improvement: Engaging in ongoing problem-solving and needs assessments to enhance patient-centered care.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with evening hours.

Qualifications
Education, Experience
- New York State Certification/Licensure and current New York State Registration (MD, DO, or NP).
- Board Certification in Psychiatry preferred, eligibility required (MD/DO).
- DEA Controlled Substances Registration Certificate.
- Experience working in a NYS Article 28/31 clinic required.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing sensitive, culturally competent psychiatric care to LGBT persons and persons living with HIV, especially disenfranchised persons, and persons of color.
- Demonstrated ability to work with substance use concerns of dually diagnosed patients.
- Experience using strength-based approaches to working with acute and chronic mental health issues in an outpatient setting, with demonstrated skill in reducing occurrence of inpatient hospital stays.
